TAMUNING, GUAM - The Guam Chamber of Commerce proudly announced the winner of this year's Reina A. Leddy award to Miss Melanie Mendiola, Project Director of Farm to Table Guam, at this year's Guam Young Professional Event of the Year held January 20, 2017 at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort.
"The Chamber is pleased to present its seventh Guam Young Professional of the Year Award honoring an individual who exemplifies professionalism and integrity in all aspects of their life, from the office to the community. Ms. Mendiola's attitude of 'service before self' drives her to promote and ensure the welfare and well being of her place of work, her home life and the community organizations she has been intimately involved with.
As an advocate for giving back to the Guam community, Ms. Mendiola consistently seeks ways to provide assistance through her personal and professional commitment to the Chamber's Guam Young Professionals as well as her involvement with other local organizations most notably as President of the Board of Directors of the Guam Girl Scouts, Treasurer of the Tourism Education Council, and as Board Secretary for the Port Authority of Guam which makes her a role model for all professionals on Guam," said Chamber President, Catherine Castro.
"Melanie has been an avid supporter of the Guam Young Professionals and has dedicated numerous volunteer hours to the group's various activities," said 2016 GYP Chairwoman, Judy Rosario. "Her professionalism and overall desire to make a contribution to our local community and our organization are motivating examples of what every young professional should aspire to. We congratulate Melanie on this well-deserved recognition."
