Toys for Tots High School Challenge Winners Announced

HAGÅTÑA, GUAM - The Guam Chamber of Commerce, along with Marine Corps Activity Guam, awarded the school with the most toys collected this past 2017 Christmas season to Father Duenas Memorial High School (FD) on Monday, January 29, 2018. FD edged out eight other schools who participated in the Annual Toys for Tots High School Challenge which ran from November to December 15, 2017. The high schools collectively contributed close to 2,000 toys for the 2017 program.

Notre Dame High School was awarded the 2nd place distinction, winning a $500 award for the school and Simon Sanchez High School was awarded the 3rd place distinction, winning a $200 award for their school.

"We sincerely appreciate the great support from our high school students who truly gave from their heart to provide Christmas for their contemporaries in need this past holiday season," said Catherine Castro, President of the Guam Chamber.

Toys were distributed to children on Guam through Catholic Social Service, the Salvation Army, Kamalen Karidat (Hågatña and Dededo district), Alee Shelter, Guma San Jose, the pediatric wards of Guam Memorial Hospital and Guam Regional Medical City, as well as to children in the CNMI. The high school challenge was open to all Guam high schools. Schools interested in participating in this annual event are encouraged to contact the Guam Chamber of Commerce.
